Entries will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis and will be limited by the amount of available performance time. We highly recommend that you register early as events do tend to sell out rather quick

Final payments must be made within 30 days of the start of the event. No payments will be accepted after this time or at the event

Payments are only accepted in United States dollars

Be precise upon entering all routine names, dancer names as well as dancer birth dates. This information will be displayed as you have entered it in our online system

Routines from Dance Studios and Independents are welcome

Ages are determined as of January 1st for all Solos, Duo/Trios & Groups

Ages will be averaged together for Duo/Trio & Group routines.

When determining the average age, drop the decimal point. Example: A group routine that averages 14.7 will compete as 14 in the teen division.

Duet/Trio and Group entries cannot compete in an age division more than one age division younger than the oldest dancer’s age as of January 1st, regardless of the average age. For example, a 16 year old (senior) dancing in a group with an average age of 11 (junior) would be moved into the teen category, one age division younger than senior.

Dancers competing in less than 7 total group routines

The Novice Level is for dancers that are either new to competition or compete for the excitement and enjoyment of dance/competition

Novice is recommended for competitors who train 5 hours or less in dance/acrobatics per week
-
Teachers must use their own discretion when placing their competitors in the appropriate level. Routines that are improperly placed will be moved up to the Challenger Level of competition.
CHALLENGER

Dancers competing in 7 or more total group routines
-
The Challenger Level is for the most competitive dancers or those dancers that want the ultimate challenge
-
Retro recommends competitors that train 6 or more hours per week in dance/acrobatics to compete in the Challenge Level

ACRO/GYMNASTICS

A performance demonstrating the strength and coordination required for movements such as handstands, walkovers and gymnastic passes

An acro/gymnastics performance should contain a majority of acrobatic movements but must also include dance movements and choreography
BALLET
-
A performance containing ballet technique and movements

No pointe shoes allowed
CONTEMPORARY
-
A performance that should contain a vast knowledge of ballet and modern technique

Movements and performance that stretch the artistry of traditional styles
-
An overall understanding and delivery of genuine performance
HIP HOP
-
A performance containing foundational hip hop techniques

Performers should be able to demonstrate an understanding of freestyle movements and commercial choreography

Knowledge and execution of an overall groove
IMPROV
-
Performers must generate movements on the spot
-
Improvs should consist of an overall objective/story while also demonstrating the performers technique & skillset
JAZZ
-
Performances must contain jazz technique
-
Street and funk styles can be integrated into jazz routines
LYRICAL
-
Performers must demonstrate a foundation of control, strength and grace in their movements as well as a strong technical base
-
An overall mood or expression of the lyrics should be present within the dancers performance
OPEN
-
A performance containing an assortment of movements & techniques from our performance categories
POINTE
-
Performers must wear pointe shoes and demonstrate the appropriate pointe techniques
TAP
-
Performances must contain tap technique, knowledge of sound and should be capable of displaying rhythm/timing
MUSICAL THEATRE
-
Performances that contain any style of dance that interprets a song from a Broadway show or movie musical.

Lip syncing is not required

All returned checks will be subject to a $35 fee.
-
No refund will be given on competition fees.
-
A 15-second "grace period" will be allowed for each routine to transition on and off the stage.
-
Any person who is visible on stage once the routine has started and prior to the end of the routine will be considered a performer and is subjected to age division and group size rules.
